From Practice to Production

Community First

When Benjamin Durland, the founder of Hudson Line Studios, was growing up in Warwick, NY, there was a vibrant, accessible, and supportive live music scene. It continues to shape his life to this day. However, music learning spaces outside of the public school system came and went, and recording and rehearsal opportunities were either nonexistent or inaccessible.

That was how The Studio at Old Ridge, the predecessor to Hudson Line Studios, was born. Durland took on the task of building the space where local artists could come to learn, record, rehearse and, eventually, create video content. Through twenty years of growing as a teacher, musician, producer, and engineer, Durland acquired the skills needed to facilitate the space he had always wanted as a young musician, and that has culminated in the birth of Hudson Line Studios.

Fed up with predatory music education models that compensate their teachers less than their owners, Hudson Line Studios employs a profit-sharing model that puts as many resources as possible back into the professionals actually doing the teaching. Rehearsal sessions are facilitated to generate content for every artist, whether that’s a stereo mix, multitrack bounces, or a full audio/video capture. The recording experience at Hudson Line centers the artist = you will never find an engineer who doesn’t give a you-know-what here.

No matter how you are looking to grow as an artist, you can find it here at Hudson Line Studios!

We hope to see you soon!
